Well, if it's gone for that long, it might not be a mouse.... And, if it has a high body mass, you're going to experience a bunch of flies after the body decomposes. Not much you can do about that, either. Not unless you can find the offending agent.

Most of the time you don't even smell the mice, especially in the wall. Even when they die, hidden, in a room somewhere, behind the refrigerater say, some people never notice a smell.
