Those were males. The ones that buzz you are always the males. And you could kill every female around and the males would still be back the next day. You can kill all the males AND the females in one day and the very next day you can have males back again - and more females looking for a spot!

These males visit multiple sites, so you'd have to kill every male and female within a few miles, depending on where you are! You know that ain't gonna happen....

And the xylene will kill the eggs/larva if it contacts. Some it will contact, some it won't. And emerging larva don't always come out of that hole you see, often they'll just bore straight out.

Persistence and detective work is the key. Anybody can do it.
