Kinda unusual to have roaches in a NEW house... But they could be brought in by the people that installed the appliances, it has happened.

I think the best course for you would be to capture a few (even on a glueboard) and take the sample in for an ID.

You can take your sample to the county agricultural agent (best) or to a trusted exterminator.

In the alternative, you could send your sample to me, if you like, make sure it isn't smashed and make sure you enclose your name and phone number. You won't believe how many people send me a sample and don't identify themselves!
