Sheri, as long as you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. And believe me, you can KNOW there's a hornet nest in a certain tree, look for an hour and not find it! I know, I've done it - many times! They can be anywhere. In n acre of ground, you would probably have SEVERAL BFH nests, you just can't see them!
Don't worry about it. Don't wear perfume or cologne (sweat is ok!) and don't bat at them if they come near you. They might interperat that as an attack. And DEFINITELY don't go poking around in bushes, the same thing might happen. I can't tell you how many (dozens) times I've been wading through bushes to do a termite job and disturbed a nest, had them go into my coveralls and make me very unhappy....
So, when I go out in my RV, I don't look for any trouble! LOL
