I noticed a large paper nest in our japanese maple mid summer. From what I have read on your website and on-line it appears that it is a bald faced wasp nest. Up to now they have not posed a problem (in our back yard), and I really haven't noticed them. However, over the past 2 weeks, there is a great deal of activity. Specifically, many large wasps flying about, hovering, going in and out of some leyland cypress and a large kousa dogwood. I think that they must be the wasps from the nest? I'm worried about going into the back yard now to remove leaves, mow, and tend to the garden. The nest is about 15 to 20 ft from the ground. Please advise. Should the nest be removed?? We do need to walk right by the nest and all the activity. Thanks!!
