We recently bought a second home, and much to our dismay, it had a flea infestation. We have had one of the "big guys" (not to name names) come out to the house about 4-5 times to treat. They've treated the inside as well as the yard, and we've used probably about 25-30 foggers in between their treatments, to try to get it under control. When we didn't see much progress, we actually ripped up all the carpeting (some only 2 months old), to try to fix the problem. Then we coated all the concrete floors with a spray we bought at the store. We aren't there regularly, so it has been a little tough to get there to vacuum all the time, but we have been trying over the last few weeks to get there to vacuum at least once a week. We've seen a bit of progress recently, but we are still finding them in at least one room. We've sealed any possibly entrances to the outside, and keep a flea trap in there too, to try to keep an eye on it. I feel like we have poisoned our house with all the treatments, and I'm at a loss. We walk into the room and 20 immediately jump on your legs. Any thoughts? If we were to coat the concrete with a sealer, and paint all the walls and base boards with a new coat of paint, will that possibly kill off all the eggs and pupa?? I've done all sorts of reading on this, and it seems like there is nothing that will kill off this stage of the flea very well. Would sealing them with a coat of paint do the trick? I'm getting desperate! I feel like we have done everything we have researched, and followed all the instructions. But we can't even move into the house for fear of getting eaten alive! Any advice would be appreciated!
