We had a neighborhood stray dog that we finally rescued last night...it stayed in our yard for about a week during rescue efforts (but wandered some during the day)...I know that it's litter mates were found to have hook, round and whip worms, so I'm assuming that she has them, too...the rescue group is taking her to the vet tomorrow. I want to know if these worms can live in the soil, where she had bowel movements in our yard and garden. I know that I have read to scoop up the feces and get rid of it, so we don't come into contact with that, but what about the worms/eggs that get into the ground? I'm worried about our veggies that my husband will grow in the garden. My husband tilled the garden, but they would still be there. Thanks for any information!
