Last week, I walked into my bathroom at night and found a little bug scurrying by. I hit him and then used double sided tape to keep him and figure out what the heck he was. An online message board user(exterminator) told me it was a roach nymph. After looking up photos to confirm, I realized he was right. Now I'm completely freaked out. I live in a single family home and have never seen one before. We have new neighbors that bought the house next door and moved in a few months ago. They came from a city apartment, so it's possible they had them there and brought them to their new home. I also buy from peapod grocery delivery and frequently purchase things from amazon. These are my only theories as to how I could have one(or hundreds) in my home. My husband thinks I'm paranoid and that we don't have a problem. I've put glue boards down under the fridge and stove and under the radiator in the bathroom where it looked like the little guy was running to. My house is clean, but I scrubbed it from top to bottom, moved the appliances out to clean and mop under, wiped down cabinets, etc and have not seen any more. I've also put all food in the fridge or in plastic storage containers. The glue boards have been down for 3 days so far with no activity. Is it possible he was some random bug that hitched a ride and by some miracle I found and killed him before he could breed? Also, I bought bait traps but I'm afraid if I put them down and don't have any more roaches, they will come into my home because of them. Is this a possibility? Should I call in an exterminator for the one bug or wait until I see more. I'm afraid by then there will be thousands. My son is allergic to roaches(skin prick allergy test) so I have even more reason to be concerned about this. Thank you so much for your time.
