Yellow jackets?, Wasps? Hornets?

They are flying around my house bigtime for some reason and I think there is a nest by the gable vents and the guy that cleans our gutters took out a nest from the stack pipe in the fall (not a bird nest). However, I have seen one go down under the flashing on my back step and thought that was odd. Hubby doesn't want to call the exterminator as he has a staph infection in his nose and is more scared of breathing anything in (doc scared him) than he is of the whatevers. I don't want to get stung or have the grandkids stung. They seem to hang around the slider in the morning and then kind of go off somewhere. I don't see them constantly but I am sure there is a nest somewhere on the house or maybe even nests. I live in a multlevel and have seen them on all sides of the house. Who knows, they may even be in the attic but hubby won't go up and I can't get up there - pull down ladder too hard for me.

Guess I am overwhelming you with me problems/questions this time. Sorry - this is #3 tonite.

Thanks.
