In a not so short nutshell: We have a neighbor who moved here to NW Arkansas (boston mountains) from Chicago.
We have 3 not so wild feral cats who patrol our street, catching all sorts of unwanted critters. So, said neighbor decided to start feeding the cats. He fills the bowls, puts them out on the side of his house on a concrete slab, and enjoys his retirement activity. These bowls are kept full 24 hours a day and when we contacted him he said" I just can't stand the idea that an animal would go hungry, then laughed about all the fighting and snarling the racoons do when feeding.
Fast foward: In addition to trying to racoon proof our house, we discovered their latrine yesterday...you got it, just smack up close to the side of our house and nestled up against the support pillar of our lower deck.
After reading all about their latrines, we have decided to seek professional removal, but how do we/can we prevent the cute little critters from continuing to use that spot?
We are in the process of notifying the other 6 neighbors, one of which has 3 very small kids (ages, 7,5 & 2 months.)
We intend to do all we can, legally of course, to end this problem.
Any help/thoughts appreciated.
