Two sides of our Lake Erie cottage are covered (top) to bottom with black/brown round/oval spots. Also there are worm-shaped spots. We are in a search to find out the source of these spots. Three exterminators have looked at the problem. The first had never seen anything like this in his 35 years of service. The second thought it was from midge/mufflehead flies. The worm-shaped marks do seem like photos of midge larvae that I saw on the internet. The third exterminator said - grasshoppers. I cannot find anything on the internet that indicates that grasshoppers could spit, poop (frass) on an entire side of a house. The photos that I saw on the internet of grasshopper poop to resemble the worm-shaped marks - but no explanation for the rounder spots. We also investigated artillery fungus as there is mulch along ONE of the house sides affected. But no mulch by other side affected. I can provide photos.
