Stef, your sample was wood roaches - although it came in pieces...

Wood roaches are different than "regular" roaches, they live OUTSIDE, and only get in by mistake - they don't really survive on the inside, and they're ATTRACTED to lights as opposed to the regular roaches that are afraid of lights. You usually only see them in the spring, and they get in because people have lights around doors, so they come in because you open doors and inadvertently get inside.

Don't worry about them, they won't infest your house!
