Figured it was a female doing the boring. I think we will go for the painting. It's really not that much wood involved to do that. And to be honest, I am not certain about whether or not it is pressurized wood or not. Iím guessing since you said most times the bees will leave it alone that itís not. I now know better about what type of wood to use thanks to your excellent site. When do you recommend that we do the painting of this area? Should we wait or do it now? We plan to totally replace the steps in June or July and then wait to paint them in the spring next year as you recommended. Thanks a lot for the information, and hope you have a nice weekend.
