Termidor is especially effective with "social" insects: ants, termites, bees, hornets, wasps for example. It works for most other insects too, although you should make sure that they are on the label.
Ticks wait for people the places in your yard where the (pets) usually on bushes, low vegetation. Yards (grass) are a virtual desert for ticks, no need to treat them, unless it is a dog run. You can also treat the areas where your dog frequents (if you have a dog!) the ticks will be there!
Best equipment for this would be a backpack sprayer, cost around $200-$250 or so, (battery-operated) it's generally what I use. You'll use less chemical and do a better job. Make sure you get UNDER leaves and shrubbery, where ticks will hide an wait.
