Interesting point: "female mice do not socialize" I thought they were all together in one big nest. This may explain why I am up to 9-10 mice so far. I could have 2-3 females that had separate nest, I didn't think one female could have 10+ babies. but I don't know..

How many mice are born per nest usually..?

Also you are correct about the no bait on the snap traps. I have got several mice like this. They just walk right into them. I stopped using bait in some areas. I hit the local dollar store here and bought a dozen those 4-pack snap traps and I have them every where, these suckers can not get far with out hitting one...hopefully I catch them all soon, its getting old.

Well thanks for your help so far. Your web site is great.
The best pest web page out there, very informative.
