Within last week or so heard scamperring, mostly in the eaves and discovered from out side tha house that several of the covers to the eaves were missing and one hole had be enlarged. During the week tried using sound of various predatory birds, figuring it was a woodpecker.
This weekend heard the noises and ran out of the house to come eye to eye with a squirrel running down a small tree in front of the house. It just looked at me as I screamed at it and finally ran when I lunged towards it.
Following this, I cut down several small trees by the house, and looked up to see a squirrel looking out of the eaves. Later two smaller ones were seen looking out as well. The is also a large oat tree about 20 feet from the house and saw a large squirrel jump from the tree to the house and later back.
I set two traps near the inside of the opening hatch to the attic which is located in the ceiling above a closet.
I am now at work and my wife says she hears quite a commotion coming from that area.
When I open the Hatch, will the other squirrels attack me? or try to get in the house? How can I keep them away while I remove the one or two trapped squirrels and later rebate the traps?
Is there any better time of the day to do this, I was leary to check the traps at 4:30AM when i was leaving for work in the dark?
