A big thankyou for all the great info I have absorbed here. It has given me the confidence to tackle the small squirrel problem I am having. No reason to explain my entire situation yet, as I am just starting out and dont need any help yet. Just wanted to say thanks.

I do have one question. I bought a 1084 trap, since it was the closest one to the 1040 I could find localy same day. It measures 24x7x7 (just like the 1030 I think), it is a single door with a lever on top of trap that opens and sets the trap. Any comments or experience with this trap? It seems simpler to set up and I am thinking thats a tradeoff of some kind. Will it work as well as the 1030 in single door mode? It looks like I cant bait the trap with door open and NOT set it so they get used to the trap, thats one downside I see to it. I have two 1040s on order so this thing is SO ON! So just curious about this starter trap I acquired....any good?

Its my first day with trap set. I used bread/peanutbutter and some apple slices/peanut butter both inside trap and chummed around it. So far the two pieces of bread/peanut butter chum have been taken but did not touch the apple chum or both baits inside trap. Anyways, I am patient and confident this guy is going to meet his maker real soon. We are just getting to know each a tad first.

Thanks again for all you do here. Great new skill for me and looks like it could be fun too.

Brian
