Just chum the area under the entrance point, the squirrels will find it soon enough. Make sure you have a trap ready for them. Put it right on the ground, amid the chum.

When you catch the squirrel(s), it's up to you what you want to do. If your daughter is a TRUE vet, she will recognize that when you release a squirrel in an unknown environment, he probably won't survive anyway. Besides, you don't really think he's gonna stay out of other people's houses, do you? It's the only thing he knows. So he'll just head for a familiar spot. Who knows, you might have a squirrel that somebody dropped off near you....

Do the right thing, put him down. You're talking "rogue" squirrel, you know.
