I put a brick on top of my trap it helps since my trap is set to hang off the edge of a bookcase that I have set up in my backyard. I also put peanut butter on the bottom of my bread so it sticks to the little dish I have in the trap as well as the piece that I set on the little trip plate. I find this forces them to work for the food and are more inclined to go into the trap cause they cant get the food any other way and will trip the trap. good luck and don't be discouraged. I was in the beginning since the squirrels were in my roof and I had no way to get to them. but everything John says on his website is true. I put the trap in my backyard they found it. I put it up high they use the fence as a highway sure enough I saw the bugger climb down the side of my house and go into the trap and 3 minutes later i had a dead squirrel.i caught my second one today in under 10 minutes of putting out the trap. Good luck
