I have just built three squirrel traps (live traps) I have been experimenting with different ways of baiting the traps. What I have found to work best is to use a hot glue gun to glue peanuts to the trigger piece. The squirrel has to "tug" on the bait a little and usually springs the trap.I am still experimenting!!!!Cheers
