Live in Myrtle Beach on a lot with many live oaks and squirrels running around. 2 days ago noticed some animal noise about 2AM in the ceiling above our bedroom(turned cold this weekend). The space above our bedroom is made with manufactured joists so the area is about a foot deep and I think the area the animals can run around in is about 50 feet by 18 feet. The house is a raised Stucco beach house and there are 2 bath room fan vents about 18 feet above the ground and are in this manufactured joist area. I temporarily closed off these vents and thought I solved the problem but after 2 nights I heard the anaimals in the ceiling again. My questions are:
(1)Can I leave these temporary covers on the vents for 2 days and remove making sure the animals (think squirrels) will want to get out for food and water. (2)Would it make sense to open one of the vents in the bathroom so the squirrel(s) would drop down in the toilet room and I could trap it and remove in a blanket? Not sure how to make sure all the squirrels are out before I permanent close off the bathrrom fan vents on the outside. Appreciate your help.
