I need help. There is an animal in the walls. Pretty sure its squirrels as I have seen them on the veranda roof. I removed the outlet cover below the intense scratching to which it had fearful cries. Sure sounds like squirrel talk. I hired a trapper.

Today 2 squirrels were trapped outside and reloacted to which I know they are doomed. Feel bad, but have to. I was told today the furnace guys removed 4 dead squirrels out of the attic, but 'forgot' to mention it to us.

QUESTION: Can squirrels actually live in walls and not the attic. I ask this because I had a trap in the attic for 4 weeks and it has not been touched.

Does not not happen every night, just every other or so night and sometimes all the way up to the second floor - from the main floor to the second and only in 2 walls. We have a covered veranda with a hollow roof around half of the entire house - a reno'd old farm house with walls 18" thick. I checked the attic and there is no squirrel smell or anything. I'm frustrated and worried.

The big scratching happens between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. until I scare it enough by pounding on the walls.

I don't think a mouse could make noise THIS loud. Could it? By now a mouse would have come in the house and I would hear more scratching right?

Any suggestions?? I need help. A tired Karen with appreciation!
