It is possible for squirrels to travel thru walls, most walls anyway, and you have to also consider that you might have something else OTHER than a squirrel. Or in ADDITION to a squirrel....

Hard to say, hard to diagnose over the Internet, I think you might need an exterminator. Forget the trapper guy, unless he's also an exterminator. You need a local exterminator experienced and willing in dealing with nuisance animals.
