Its a exterior wooden chimney with an interior metal pipe. This squirrel got into my crawl space so I covered the crawl space door with hardware cloth. Now he crawls up on the hardware cloth and jumps to the nearby chimney bottom and has chewed a narrow opening where it attaches to the brick house exterior. I have covered the damaged areas with hardware cloth but would like to repair the underlying damage. I am afraid he will start chewing on the unprotected areas of the chimney. Will a squirrel chew on Hardiplank?
