Time. Believe me, they'll go in. They need time. Forget the chum outside the trap, leave the trap open and disabled until they take what's in the trap. And squirrels are omnivores - they'll eat anything! I mean, what the hell, they go in your trash, don't they? Put some "trash" around. Make them feel comfortable.

Wait a few days. Then if they haven't taken it yet, put NO BAIT, NO CHUM. (Make them look for it!) They'll come around. THEY'RE SQUIRRELS! hahaha

Here is where you get to use your wits against the squirrel. Man against beast. You WILL win, I have confidence.
