You can have the ants and not see a thing.

As far as a squirrel "hiding" - after awhile it won't hide, you'll see him - or evidence he has been there. Things turned over, potted plants dug up, like that. Besides, squirrels are outside animals. Eventually, he'll want to get outside.

How 'bout a chipmunk? You have them there? They get inside sometimes and are pretty secretive. Flying squirrels too.
