My uncle got around this because the law in the state where he lives has no problem with hunting squirrels as a game animal. He uses a gun, not a trap, and he says they go good with taters and gravy for breakfast. (Yes, he actually eats them. I've seen him do it.) He made a few squirrel skin caps, Davy Crockett style. He lives on a farm, not in the city.
