James, if I had something to "deter" squirrels, I'd be a rich man....

I know they do this kind of thing, and sometimes it can get pretty severe. My only suggestion would be to start trapping every squirrel he can, eventually, you'll get to a point where the population is low enough that this won't happen. Make sure he puts down each and every one he catches.

My brother had much the same problem with his vinyl sided garage, they drove him crazy. I showed him how to handle the traps, outfitted him with 4 traps, as I remember, and he trapped over 60 squirrels in the span of a summer and fall. This was about 7 or 9 years ago, and I don't believe he had a problem since. This was in a normal-type neighborhood, but there were many very large and mature trees around, many were oak trees, so there was a fairly large population of squirrels.

Many times, houses with a history of squirrel problems can have a continuing problem. Regardless of whatever else you do, you MUST reduce that population. You do have one thing on your side, squirrels are easy to trap.

I feel your pain!

---John
