Well, it all boils down to trapping the animals and removing them. The problems come with setting up the traps and where to do it.
As far as being "old" is concerned, I'm "old" too. And unless you're in a wheelchair or something, it's mostly doable by almost anyone.
If you do it yourself, the cost is only for the traps, and they're not expensive at all. And since you LIVE there, it's the easiest for you to do this, my squirrel pages tell you exactly how to do this, and this message board is here to help you with the details, all for free.
If you have to have someone else to do this, there can be some other costs, but if you have a relative or a neighbor, or a friend to help you, you can reduce the costs you might have.
You say he is between floors - but do you know how they are entering? If not, you (or someone) must determine this. A trap, and someone to patch entry points will be what you need to do.
Do you know how they are getting in, have you checked on that?
