After cleaning our deck with a residential deck cleaning product, sodium cloride solution, we have had squirrels chewing them to pieces. We are assuming that the sodium is a salt that they are attracted to.Any suggestions on how to deter them? Does ground red pepper work? Would staining the deck cover or mask the attractant?
