What can I say, landlords are CHEAP! Even if the squirrels are "chased out" during construction, this was HOME! So they usually find their way back in, somehow.

And yes, trapped squirrels will generally chew their way out, it's not difficult for them to do this.

So the upshot is that in addition to spending the money for the roof, he will probably have to pay to get rid of the squirrels and then repair the roof AGAIN!
