I had the hardest time catching my first few squirrels after the attic invasion of 2011. I finally got about 3 over a 2 month period (the likely invaders) thanks to help from this board, then it started getting easier and easier as new ones came to the territory. My opinion is that if they're brave enough to get on my deck and patio, it's just a matter of time until they get too comfy and try to chew their way in.

This spring as I take out the established ones and new ones move into the yard, it is much, much easier to trap them. I've caught a couple with an unbaited trap.

My point is, it seems like the established squirrels are more street smart than the new guys. Or maybe it is just happenstance.
