They actually have a vast repertoire, I am constantly amazed at the sounds they can come out with.
I watched one the other day, he was breaking open black walnuts on the front office steps (some nerve, eh?) leaving a pile of black walnut hulls. I think they do that so they can pick out the nuts on a nice flat spot and still watch for danger. They do that on the back office porch too.
He was out there a good 10 minutes, not too much action at our front door, just our mail girl once a day, and sometimes the UPS guy. He was clucking and chirping the entire time.
The population has built up around here, but they haven't bothered the trash or even our tiny garden. I did fish a dead baby squirrel out of our pond in back early this spring, first time I ever had to do that!
