Rebecca, before you do any kind of clean-up, you have to make sure the place is sealed off from the squirrels. And no squirrels left inside.

Once you do that, I guess the best thing is to always start with the basic. Which means a wet-wash (of some type) to the areas that have the problem. Assuming they’ve been in there just since this storm, simple soap & water should do the trick. Vacuum first, of course, and make sure you follow manufacturer’s directions for cleaning.

There are worse things!

You might also have that person contact his insurance company, some or all of this may be covered, depending on his policy.
