Yeah, sometimes they do that.... Other than staking a large dog out there, there isn't whole lot you can do. Trapping & removal works, but I'm not sure you want to go to that trouble.

And, no, there really isn't anything you can do to "deter" them from doing that. Other than the large dog, I mean.
