Hi John, thanks so much for the reply. We'll try leaving some bread and peanut butter on the basement floor. I was even thinking of going back to allowing the cats down there and putting their food back on the landing because I really feel like he's not there anymore. He may have gotten out...how, I have no idea. He can't get in and out of the windows (they are the ice block windows and the middle part that opens is really really small with a screen and cover) but we have a door down there that we can open up that leads to the backyard. You'd think he would have helped himself to the shmorgishborg that has been sitting in the trap for a number of days. There's been no activity for almost a week now.
I will definitely keep you posted.
