Kyle, he'll probably either chew the stuff up or find another place to work on. It's winter now, I would just trap and remove him, then wait for warmer, better weather and fix all the spots. Use HEAVY DUTY half inch hardware cloth, not the stuff you get at Home Depot, they mostly sell the cheap stuff.

You'll need a good pair of tin snips and some leather work gloves to deal with that stuff, it'll tear your hands up.
