Thanks for responding. No, they are just regular grey squirrels. We live in PA, about 7 miles past the Delaware Water Gap.
We've been hearing the babies in the beam for as least 6-8 weeks, with the noise and activity increasing greatly this past 2 weeks. I think they are ready to start heading out, but must have taken the wrong left turn lol. I am not sure if there are more than 1 up there on the shelf area, which is about 11-12 feet long by 3-4 feet wide. There is a curtain hanging from the ceiling to the floor of the shelf. Nothing trapped as of this morning, we need to remove everything that is stored up there today and find the entry point. Thanks for your help. Your website is extremely informative, went through the whole squirrel section.
