The pipe is being used. Actually, I have been off this week because my kids are off from school. I solved some of the mystery today. Our house is an older house with a deck very close to a low roof kitchen. The kitchen was extended by previous owners. The expansion brought the kitchen closer to the fence line of our wildlife feeding neighbors. The roof is low. Today, I heard a noise(opposite side of house) on the roof by the gutter. I quietly went outside-and there was a squirrel on the roof near the hole-the one hole we know they use to enter the soffit by that down spout. We just can't find the second one we need to find before closing this one-or can we close it? Pretty sure by its behavior babies or others are in there. It kept peering in the space from where it tore some of the metal we used to close the whole three years ago back... but was extremely afraid of me. Anyway, it ran to the back of the house. I ran the other way and found it going from my shed to the neighbor’s tree. A minute later it was back on the shed. It saw me and ran off again.
Now I have a dilemma. Our neighbors have a row of trees on the on the fence line of our two properties. We cut everything that we could that extended onto our property. Today, the squirrel leapt from our shed and onto a tree that's completely on their property. I don't know if we can cover the shed roof in something-or we have to tear it down. My husband is at work. He is going to call a friend of his that works in the township to see what we can do about the trees (I doubt much) before looking at options regarding the shed.
