Hello, Great site and thank you for the information! Back story, we had our entire attic spray foam insulated 3 weeks prior. With the job, they removed the batt insulation. 2 nights later we hear noises. At 1 am I go up armed with IPhone flash light to find what looks like a Chipmunk... Following day I set a rat trap hoping to end this nonsense.
As you suspected, no luck. I opted for a Haveahart 2030 and last night had success, after finding your site. Apperaed to be a ground squirrel (google images) as it was same color as grey ones but much smaller and large beady eyes. It's feet, legs, or arms were not webbed either.

My concerns / questions are as follows:
Is it possible this guy was trapped in the attic prior to insulation job? I am in Chicago area and it's winter time here but is very mild now 40-50 degrees last week.

Do you have any reason to believe there are more? I have re baited the station.

Does it sound like a coming and going situation or like a hidden nest. The attic is partially floored in old section. The remainder is rather easy to see as it's framing and drywall now.

There are no signs of feces or urine but i don't know what i'm looking for. Prior to removing fiberglass insulation I did see a smaller pile of maple helicopter seeds and chalked it up to a mouse? House is 100+ years old and I have only lived here 3 months. Also, we left the attic window open for a few days to help remove foam insulation odor.

Thank you in advance!
