Can squirrels shinny up a metal 3" downspout? Can they shinny up a really large 8" sewer pipe? If they can, I will have to baffle them I think.
Do they have to be standing on something horizontal to chew a hole, or can they chew while clinging vertically to something?

I am trying to keep them off the roof (1894 Queen Anne Victorian, LOTS of roof sections, corners, walls, edges, soffits, complicated roof), because then they get into the attic. I don't think it's possible to squirrel-proof the roof so they couldn't chew in.
