In my new construction (10 years old), I have scratching in my attic which I can hear coming from my ceiling.I found a hole on the outside of the house which is small enough that I don't believe it to be anything bigger than a squirrel but it is loud enough that it's nothing smaller than a field rat. However, there is no crawl space or entry point other than where the animal went inside at. Further, this area is high up and on a steep pitch of the roof. I called an exterminator and it is a holiday and they haven't gotten back to me yet. I am 1) afraid of the squirrel or rat chewing electrical wires and causing a fire. 2) Doing further damage. The thing has managed to move around a little but it seems to be restricted to the same area. There is a wall between the new construction and old construction and he has seemed to be able to pass through. I am contemplating setting up a have a heart trap filled with apples in hopes that he can smell it and get to that other area. I am also contemplating getting to where that hole is right under that roof line and spraying the crap out of it but I don't want to rodent to die inside and I don't want what I spray to keep it trapped inside. Any suggestions would be helpful while I wait for the pro
