Should I get rid of ants that aren't noticable in my house?

Hey John.. nice new message board here! Allow me to break it in:

Last year, I fought epically with ants as they tried to enter several different spots around the house, all leading into the kitchen, all in high traffic areas. I used all sorts of traps, sprays, prayer and dances to get them to stop, and eventually won the battle... well.. "won" the battle.. I'm sure they just moved somewhere I couldn't see.

So this year, I was marvelling how I hadn't really seen a huge infestation like I did last year. Few stragglers in the kitchen, but I was on top of them to ensure no scent tracking lines could be formed (or whatever they do). We've stayed on top of cleaning the kitchen and rooms as well.

I thought (hoped) they had just moved out into the yard like good ants, but as I was staining my deck today (Yeah, a few contractors suggested I should do that, so I'm going for it...) I noticed a trail of ants running along the base of my house, in a small, exposed part of my stucco. They were bringing food in from outside, but couldn't figure out where. I later found them tracking up and down a post on my deck into my yard, so they're bringing food from outside in. As I watched, I saw a whole variety of ants... small black, small red.. small black with wings (please tell me not a termite), and a little bigger black one (not a carpenter ant..). They were all travelling along the same line and getting food from the same spot. They actually are quite smart in how they've laid their track, as they're walking sideways between two wood planks to remain undetected to the house).

So my question after this long setup: They are obviously nested somewhere in the house.. but I have NO idea where. Likely in the walls somewhere. Should I go to the trouble of ferreting them out, putting traps down near where they're getting the food in hopes they'll bring it back, or leave them alone and co-exist with them?

And yes, the thought of them running around the house is bothersome, but if they truly set up shop out of sight, I'm fine.. don't like that they're using the deck as a path, though.
