for the record i feel sorry for anyone dealing with termites. I bought my first home not knowing much about anything i relyed on my realestate agent for answers. We had a home inspection and a termite inspection done before buying our home. We were told there was previous termite activity because of the holes drilled at front porch,, but none active and no major damage. After buyinh the home and moving in about 8 mths later i see swarms at the kitchen sink. call Terminex they confirm we have termites.
My husband goes under the house with Terminex they find huge mud tubes and a floor joyst that look like straw complteley ate up. And many other joyst with damage.
The sill plate is completely gone. Water stands under my house. The topside hardwood floor eaten up in spots. this wasn't seen till after we removed the carpet.
The termite inspector hire buy us saw none of this. He says it was like that when he inspected less thn 8 mths ago.
Can that be true? Can termites turn a floor juyst into straw in less than year. Can a mud tube be as big as a 16 oz coke can in less than year.
please respond we are devistated the cost to repair is as much as we bought the house for.
