Won't hardly make any difference at all, Diana... The termites have plenty of wood in the ground, don't forget, all those trees had extensive root systems. In fact, a tree looks underground, remarkably like it does above ground. You won't really affect the number of termites by removing the wood debris. It may be unsightly, but that's about all.

In other words, don't worry about it!
