Thanks for the local contact John. Unfortunately I already contracted this pest control company before I found your site. I have not contacted Roland yet, but may do so. The company I contracted is a family owned company who has been in service for almost 40 years and came with referrals. You probably know of them as they also own a very large online termite pesticide and pesticide supply store.
I called them Saturday afternoon and they came out Monday afternoon. They have always been very responsive and courteous.
They looked at the area and were very confused. The first time they were out we agreed that the front porch all the way over to the flower bed attached to the house was part of the slab since they tried to drill on one side before the flower bed and the concrete was thick. Greater than 10” and they decided not to drill in front of the front door. This time he decided to drill under the front door at a forty five and broke through into a void only after about 2” in (the threshold of the door is brick). He then got his scope rod out and took a peak. He said there is a small crack at most 1/4” and more likely 1/8” along the area. He drilled 5 more holes and looked in those holes with the scope as well. They could not see any termites but that is their “educated guess” as were they were coming from. He said that they could not use the pressure rod as it would just back up out of the hole on them, so they got out there famous foamer tank “sigh” and filled the one gallon foamer tank with the pesticide from their big tank. They held the foamer tank upside down to get liquid form out and he was right, it backed out right back into his face. So, they drained it in there real slow and when it started coming out, they injected foam. Then did the rest of the holes the same way and emptied the one gallon. I was expecting them to pump a 100 gallons into my slab to make sure they got them, but no this is all they did. I asked how about putting some in the walls or something and they did not want to do that. Time was not the issue as they were there a long time and did not seem to be in a hurry, they just felt that it was not necessary. I told him about getting the window replaced soon were they swarmed in May and he wants to come out to take a look when the window is out and maybe put some under the window, so they seem sincere.
A no go on the concrete slab area under the water heater as well. He was very confident that he got them and that they were coming up around the pipes there and the foam did the trick.
I tried to get them to do more, but that is all they would do. Next to the owner I’m told this is the head guy making the decisions. Actually, he did not let his workers do these two areas and did them himself.
Is there any way for me know if they got them or do I have to wait for more damage? Is there anything more I should request and be very specific about? If there is, I could get him and the owner on the phone and see what they can do.
