Hello,
We have also had a worsening problem for the past few years with ants and tried many home remedies with little effect except disappearing in the winter. I used to put borax around the inside perimeter of the house. In Feb they began to come back in earnest and we had our first contact with an exterminator. He sprayed under the house and in the eaves but can't get into the walls due to the insulated foam panels. Shortly after his visit, we had a swarm of flying ants which he called male reproductive ones. He advised me by phone to vaccum them up and I do. He is to come out soon for his next maintenance visit. He was clear that he couldn't do a guarantee without having access to the walls. The continued numbers of them are having a toll on our family. They are coming into the kitchen nook from a hole in the trim and from a northern wall in the master bedroom underneath a beam and inside a stress skin panel. We use the shop vac daily and originally there were more in the kitchen and now they are more upstairs in the bedroom. They appear to die soon as we see them on the ground. However tonight more were on the bedstead which freaked me out and I am sleeping in the living room on the couch even though there are some near the computer. My questions are whether we can do anything without tearing out all of our walls? The swarm did come after the exterminator visit?
The kids are getting agitated and so am I!
Thanks
