After 4 years of losing water, changing pipes, new liner, etc. we are now at $7,700 in repairs and have discovered it is MOST likely termites eating the vinyl liner. The pool is 20 x 40. My question, is it more cost effective to just continue to top the water level off (we are losing 1/4" a day now -- we have patched 55 pin holes) or do what the termite inspector recommended and that is...remove and replace liner (which is 1 1/2 years old), remove vermiculite, treat bottom of pool and replace with new liner. Obviously this is a very expensive approach. If we do nothing will the termites continue to eat the entire liner? What would you do?
