I live in the North Carolina Piedmont area and I am about to hire a professional firm to re-treat my home for termites. It is a brick home facade with a crawl space and is about 10 years old. They treated about five years ago with an unknown chemical and the treatment involved trenching and drilling on the slabs and the brick supports under the house. They have told me that the industry standard for today's chemical is complete reapplication every five years.
The termite control company offers treatment with a chemical called Termador, which they say will cost twice as much, as an alternative chemical Premise. I have read about the differences and that Termador does kill the hive easily due to inclusion of Fipronil, however, I am not sure it is worth the double cost.
My property has never shown any evidence of termite infestation, however, the area is quite damp and woodlands are adjacent to the property.
