i recently purchased an old florida home built in the 50's. it had an addition and the front half of the house has a cement foundation but the back half has a crawl space. during remodeling, the deck that came off the kitchen needed to be destroyed and a new deck built. the contractor suggested using cinder blocks to block the entry to the crawl space around the part of the house that is exposed (no cement foundation). one reason was to keep other "animals" out, the other was to keep my dog from crawling under the house. since cinder blocks have been put around this open space the kitchen seems more damp. did we make a mistake with these cinder blocks? should we have used wood lattice to block this space versus the cinder blocks? what would be best for the house and to keep termites and ants out?
many, many thanks! your website is so helpful and informative...by the way is ric gleason related to gleason pest control in lee county?
